Seasonal Access

May 1st through October 31st The cabin is typically accessible by cars or trucks. Front wheel drive vehicles are adequate, though 4WD vehicles are best during Summer/Fall.

Historically mid/late November through early/mid April is snowed in. The 5 mile road from the Highway to the parking lot is accessible only by 4WD vehicles during this time. The cabin is approximately 5 miles from the parking lot (20-30 min snowmobile ride). All roads into the cabin are only accessible by tracked vehicles or skies. Roads are closed for all cars and trucks. It is an exciting unique opportunity! The cabin is located halfway between Gunnison and Montrose, and is approximately 40 miles from either town. The couple weeks on either end are Mud season(s). It is a slushy muddy mess and cabin availability will be limited during these times.

The weather can differ from year to year and roads may close or open outside of these windows. AnnieGrace will communicate if there will be a dramatic weather impact during your stay due to atypical weather events or accessibility adjustments as they come up.

Winter Cabin Life and Snow Activities

Winter is generally November through April give or take a few weeks. We Groom our neighborhood roads throughout the whole season and all roads are closed to all cars and trucks. Only Tracked vehicles are allowed. This creates the perfect set up for the following activities.

Cross Country, Nordic Skiing, and Snowshoeing right from the driveway of the cabin!

Exhaust your energy outdoors in the winter by snowshoeing or cross country skiing around the neighborhood filing roads soak in the scenery Arrowhead has to offer.

All Filing roads are shared with skiers, snowshoes, Side by sides, and snowmachines. Snowmobiles or tracked vehicles are the main mode of winter travel for residence. Bring your own into the cabin, or Rent now at Arrowhead Mountain Adventures.

Neighborhood rides are nice for beginners trail riding. DO NOT go off trail in Arrowhead. Speed limit is 20 MPH. Take the trails up country and stay on trail until after the cattle guard. After that point, you may play in the powder unless "private property" signs are posted. Willow park is a very fun open meadow to ride in up country. Take Willow Park trail to reach it. There is an outhouse at the destination. Be Safe, Be wise and don't ride beyond your skill level. Wear appropriate winter clothing and safety gear. Pack snacks and Have fun!
